Cloning a Course - Quick Start Guide.

EthosCE Administrators, like site admins or course admins, can refer to this guide on how to clone a course as well as careful considerations that need to be taken into account for successful use of the cloning feature.

Enrollments will not clone over into the new course.

Cloning a course will clone over most course objects.

1

“(content) will be cloned as a node. Results may vary”

The system is creating this copy as a new piece of content on the website, each with its distinct node (unique content ID). The items to be duplicated may vary, resulting in some fields not being replicated. For instance, while most details from the course landing page will be duplicated, any custom attributes assigned to the course will not transfer over. Moreover, the course objects themselves will be replicated in the new course's outline. However, the content within these objects will require manual updating.

You should access your course outline, check each object's instance, and add any content that was not copied over during cloning. Additionally, make sure to re-add any attributes that were listed in the course.

2

“Clone course objects that reference an existing course object in this course will need to be updated to reference the newly cloned course object”

Suppose there is any referenced content or material on your course outline from somewhere else on the site (e.g. a course page). In that case, the system will not establish the connection to the referenced material when cloning. The referenced material will not be duplicated in the cloning process.

You must update the course outline manually to ensure the referenced content is correctly reinstated. Additionally, specific object settings or access settings will not be copied when cloning; these settings will require manual adjustment.

3

ACCME fields will not be cloned.

The data in the ACCME field is never duplicated.

If this activity is to be reported to PARS, all details on the ACCME tab must be updated for the new activity.
