Editing a Quiz or Quiz Question with Attempts

Once a quiz attempt has be started, the administrator is no longer able to edit fields and configurations that will affect the scoring of the quiz. The fields and configurations are locked and data can no longer be changed.

The only way to edit a quiz after attempts have been made is to delete the attempts.

As an alternative, the quiz can be disabled and a replacement quiz added to the course:

  1. Create a replacement quiz. Pull in questions from the question bank, and create the corrected quiz question.

  2. Disable the original quiz.

  3. Pull a report of the original quiz's completions/attempts, so that you see who completed and passed the quiz.

  4. Manually mark the quiz replacement as completed for the user(s) by editing their enrollments as an administrator. If you do not do this step, users in progress in the course may be confused as to why they have to retake the quiz (if quiz is required).
