Embedding Third-party video

Oembed

Oembed is a technology that allows for embedding a video using only the video URL. Many video providers support it, however not all do. EthosCE can support any provider that supports oEmebed. If you need a provider added, please open a support ticket.

To embed a video with oembed:

  1. Navigate to content.

  2. Click "Edit."

  3. Click the add media icon in the WYSIWYG editor:

  4. Click "Web."

  5. Type in or copy and paste in the URL of the video to embed.

  6. Click "Submit."

  7. Leave Display as the default. Click "Submit" again.

  8. Click "Save."

Large video files added to the 'Web' tab may time out. We recommend using our Warpwire add-on for large file uploads, otherwise contact your provider for embed code to utilize.

iFrame Embed

IFrame allows you to paste in the embed code provided by the video provider. To do this, look for the "share" or similar option on the video and copy the embed code into your clipboard.

To embed a video using the provider's embed code via iFrame:

  1. Navigate to content.

  2. Click "Edit."

  3. Click the "Source" button in the WYSIWYG editor.

  4. Paste in the embed code from your video provider.

  5. Click "Save."

If the EthosCE site has a secure connection (SSL / URL begins with https://), and the video URL is http, it will need to be made secure in order to work as embedded. Check with the third party vendor to ensure they support SSL.
