Faculty Form Fieldgroups

Fieldgroups allow for field to be organized together under a common header. They can also be used to create tabs or multiple pages in a form.

To create a "Div" or "Fieldset" fieldgroup:

  1. Log in as a user with the site admin role.

  2. Find the form you wish to edit.

  3. Click the appropriate form name in the list shown on screen.

  4. Click "Manage fields" in the top navigation bar.

  5. Type the fieldgroup name in the "label" field under "Add new group." The label is the field name that the end users will see.

  6. Type a group name in the "Group name" field. This is the administrative name of the fieldgroup and must be a unique, lowercase name.

  7. Select a fieldgroup from the "Widget" field.

  8. Drag the fieldgroup to the appropriate location in the form.

  9. Drag the fields to go into field group under the fieldgroup.

  10. Indent the fields by dragging the to the right under the fieldgroup.

  11. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save."

Tabs and pages

Fields can also be organized into tabs or pages. This is a two-step process. First the tabs or page fieldgroups are created. Then the tabs or pages fieldgroups are added to a parent fieldgroup.

Step one: Create the tab or page fieldgroups and organize fields.

  1. Log in as a user with the site admin role.

  2. Find the form you wish to edit.

  3. Click the appropriate form name in the list shown on screen.

  4. Click "Manage fields" in the top navigation bar.

  5. Type the fieldgroup name in the "label" field under "Add new group." The label is the field name that the end users will see.

  6. Type a group name in the "Group name" field. This is the administrative name of the fieldgroup and must be a unique, lowercase name.

  7. Select "Multipage," "Horizontal tab," or "Vertical" tab fieldgroup from the "Widget" field.

  8. Drag the fieldgroup to the appropriate location in the form.

  9. Drag the fields to go into field group under the fieldgroup.

  10. Indent the fields by dragging the to the right under the fieldgroup.

  11. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save."

  12. Follow the steps below.

Step two: Add the parent fieldgroup and organize the child fieldgroups.

  1. Add another fieldgroup and select either "Multipage group," "Horizontal tab group," or "Vertical tab group" fieldgroup from the "Widget" field based on whether you are using pages, or tabs.

  2. Drag the pages or tabs created under the the new item. 

  3. Indent the fieldgroups under the new item.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save."
