Course description

The Course Description section contains fields that display descriptive information to the learner on the course landing page. It also contains the date fields, which control when a learner can enroll and earn credit.
Any text field left empty will not display on the course landing page. 

Title & Description tab

  • Title: The course title. Displayed on the course landing page over as well as throughout the course workflow.

  • Program description:  The course description. Displayed on the "Overview" tab of the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling.

  • Program description summary: A short version of the course description. This is used in catalogs and when displaying related courses. It appears directly above the program description. Click "Edit summary" to edit the content of this field.

  • Course image: An image that displays next to the course title.  It is important to use images properly sized for the depth of the course title. See image size recommendations.

  • Target audience:  Displayed on the "Overview" tab of the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling.

  • Learning objectives:  Displayed on the "Accreditation" tab of the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling.

  • Accreditation: Displayed on the "Accreditation" tab of the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling.

Date & Time tab

  • Start and expiration dates: Sets the availability of the course. Displayed on the course summary block on the course landing page. Learners will not be able to enroll in the course before the release date or after the expiration date.

  • Live: Check this checkbox to display the event date. Checking the "Live" box enables an additional restriction on enrollment, described below.

    • Event date:  Displayed on the course landing page under the course title and on the course summary block. When entered, the course enrollment will close after the start date has passed. Also used for sending reminders.

Faculty & Disclosure tab

  • Faculty & credentials: Displayed on the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling.

  • Disclosure link: Displayed on the "Faculty" tab course landing page. Used to provide a link to a separate page containing faculty disclosures.

Course Format & Instructions tab

  • Course Format: Meta-information about the course. Not displayed on the course landing page. This field is used in search and the list of course format values can be edited as it is now a taxonomy term. Deleting terms is not recommended as it will require a full re-index of course content.

  • Category: Meta-information about the course. Not displayed on the course landing page. This field is used in search and the list category values can be edited as it is now a taxonomy term. Deleting terms is not recommended as it will require a full re-index of course content.

  • Required hardware / software: Displayed on the "Register/take course" tab of the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling.

  • Course instructions: Not displayed on the course landing page. Course Instructions appear when the learner begins the course after enrollment.

  • Registration instructions: Displayed on the "Register/take course" tab of the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling.

  • Course completion message: Displayed to the learner after the course has been completed. Not displayed on the course landing page. 

Program tab

  • Program: The program description. Displayed on the "Program" tab of the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling.

Marketing tab

  • Course ratings: Controls who may rate a course. When the course rating is enabled, a learner may click on a star to indicate the rating given the course. The learner may select from 1-5 stars with 5 being the highest rating.  The rating displays on the course summary page.

  • Related courses: Displays the selected courses on the course landing page, course completion page and shopping cart page.

Venue

  • Venue Location: Displayed on the "Venue" tab course landing page. Also used to generate a map on the course landing page. 

  • Venue phone: Displayed on the "Venue" tab course landing page.

  • Venue information: Used to display venue information to the learner before purchasing or enrolling. Displayed on the "Venue" tab course landing page.

  • Travel information: Used to display travel information to the learner before purchasing or enrolling. Displayed on the "Venue" tab course landing page.

  • Venue image:  An image that displays to the right of the venue location. Displayed on the "Venue" tab course landing page. It is important to use a properly sized image. See image size recommendations.

  • Venue link: Displayed on the "Venue" tab of the course landing page. Used to provide a link to an external link to additional information. 

Commercial Support

  • Commercial Support: Displayed on the "Commercial Support" tab on the course landing page. 

File attachments:

  • File attachments: Allow for the uploading of files that optionally appear on the course landing page. Used to display information about the course to learners before purchasing or enrolling. How to attach a file.
