Zoom Integration & Virtual Meeting Resource FAQs

There was an error connecting with Zoom. What does this mean?

Scenario #1: The Zoom JWT API credentials and administrative account email address are incorrect. Please visit our documentation on how to create a Zoom API account here.

Scenario #2: The Zoom account administrative email address provided to EthosCE does not have sufficient API permissions. Please review the Zoom account and make sure API access is available.

Scenario #3: If the Zoom account is part of a larger organizational enterprise account, the organization’s account administrators may have disabled API access. Please report any API issues to your organizations Zoom account administrator.

Scenario #4: If the Alternate Host listed on the EthosCE side does not have a Zoom account.

Learners are not being marked complete and unable to advance after attending the Zoom Meeting.

In order for learners to accurately get marked complete in EthosCE, please be sure the host successfully ends the Zoom Meeting/Webinar before closing out the browser window or application.

Please ensure the JWT app is configured correctly. Documentation and a walkthrough video are available here.

I am attempting to schedule two separate Zoom Meetings at the same time, but I am not able to do so.

Zoom Meetings does not allow for concurrent meetings generated from the same host. For a workaround, please see our documentation about setting up scheduling privileges for additional host accounts.

My organization is unable to use the EthosCE Zoom integration, we are currently using a different virtual meeting platform. Is there another way to embed a virtual meeting in a course or session?

Yes, EthosCE provides the option of embedding many different virtual meeting platforms within a course or a session. Please review our documentation here.

Does EthosCE support Zoom Webinars?

Yes. EthosCE supports both Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars.

How does the EthosCE Zoom Meetings integration work?

EthosCE leverages Zoom’s JSON Web Token(JWT) API application to create meetings in the associated zoom account, update meetings, and track participant’s attendance. Zoom’s JWT API application is available to all Zoom accounts with a Pro level or higher. When learners attend and complete a Zoom Meeting tied to a course or session in EthosCE, Zoom sends a participation report back to EthosCE and learners are marked completed.

Does Zoom and EthosCE share any learner data between each application?

EthosCE and Zoom calculate participant attendance values and match records by the learner’s email address. The learner’s email address in EthosCE will show on the Zoom Meetings Report dashboard as a participant. No other personal data is shared between EthosCE and Zoom.

I have a free Zoom Meetings account and I am unable to find the JWT API configuration as noted in your documentation.

The Zoom Meetings API application access is only available for Pro, Business, and https://ethosce.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ECE/pages/1472430084 accounts. Please view Zoom’s account options here.

My organization has requested I move all of our in-person live events to virtual meetings. Is there currently a resource where I can find out how to get started.

Yes, we recently published an EthosCE community Wiki about virtual meetings and resources to get started.
